Guardian Angels Potchefstroom

The Guardian Angels is a volunteer organization committed to the safety and well being of our community. Our mission is to help prevent and deter violence and crime through safety patrols, education, and community service.

The International Alliance of Guardian Angels is a non-profit organization established in 1979.

We are actively looking for volunteers in the following areas. Keep in mind that administrative volunteers are not required to do patrolling.

We have chapters around the world from Japan to Sweden, throughout the USA and now finally in South Africa - Cape Town, Parow, Kuilsrivier, Klerksdorp and now Potchefstroom. We have programs including youth programs, self‑defense classes, Safety Patrols and much more.

The Safety Patrol is the foundation of our organization. There is nothing like the real-life test of patrolling our streets and making a difference in the lives of families imprisoned in their own neighbourhoods. Due to the high demands of staying safe and continual real-life practice, you will gain a more practical understanding of the following concepts:

With financial and volunteer support from people just like you, the Potchefstroom Guardian Angels will be able to provided volunteer patrol in your community. Our volunteers have training to assist victims in dozens of incidents ranging from vandalism, violence, motor vehicle accidents, public disorder and assault with a deadly weapon. We can also provided crime prevention patrols, escorts, administered emergency first aid, and help deter disturbances before they became criminal incidents in many more cases.

We deter gangs by recruiting the same young men and women they target for membership. In addition our non-patrolling Youth Angel Programs for school kids is directed at kids at an age that they are most susceptible to gang recruitment. Since middle of 2005 we have started training young men and women to be real life role models in their local neighbourhoods. We need your help to keep our program continuing its vital work. With your support we are going to take our neighbourhoods back: block by block and train our young people: leader by leader.

That all children will enjoy a safe environment in which they can rise to their full potential, and can acquire indestructible self-esteem, confidence and pride of accomplishment achieved through their contribution and commitment to society

To motivate teachers, parents and children, as mentors and companions, to create a safer, more powerful future through our programs and our dedication to personal safety, civic contribution and value development. To have violence prevention programs in schools throughout Potchefstroom for the benefit of students and teachers alike. To be recognized by colleges, universities and other institutions of higher learning as the prime resource for training teachers in violence prevention.

Through increased partnership with the educational, business, cultural and religious institutions of our communities, we will solidify and expand our positive role model programs. We will continue to focus and enhance our personal safety and violence prevention.

New recruited members of the Guardian Angels Crime prevention patrol had a recruitment drive this weekend. The Guardian Angels of Potchefstroom have recently started

in Potch and are Supported by the South African Police department and the Community Policing Forum in Potchefstoom.

We would like to thank members of the public for their support, and hopefully with more support will you see us on the streets on regular basis.

When you see us in our red berets and red and white Guardian Angels T-Shirts, just remember we are here to try and make Potch a safer place for all of us.

The Potchefstroom GUARDIAN ANGELS is still looking for more individuals ages 16 and older, willing to volunteer their time to discourage crime and KEEP OUR TOWN SAFE!

The ALLIANCE OF GUARDIAN ANGELS is a non-profit organization – wholly manned by volunteers.

You'll be helping keep crime off the streets and making our city a safer place to live, work and play through applying the unarmed combat skills we teach, to deter criminals.

Volunteer only 8 to 10 hours per Month (Training times included) in changing our city.
